Films Directed by Women


We meet the 2nd Tuesday of every month (except for November when we have our festival). This is an inclusive film club for men and women and all who identify in their own unique way to explore the cinematic works of women directors. Everyone is welcome.

Watch the film in advance of the meeting. Then join us for facilitated discussions on a wide variety of topics that promise to add new depth to your appreciation of cinema as an art form and the women who create films.

Carmen

Inspired by true events, Carmen is a charming story set in a village in the Mediterranean island Malta. Carmen (Natascha McElhone) has looked after her brother, the priest at the local church, since she was sixteen years old. Now almost fifty, she is suddenly left to start a new life. Facing her past, Carmen brings colour to the lives of the villagers in this compelling story about a woman finding her voice.
